Preferred minimum qualifications include:
- Eligible for a Georgia Teaching Certificate
- ESOL Endorsement or willing to complete endorsement
The role of the ESOL teacher is to plan, organize, and implement the ESOL program in a learning environment that guides and encourages EL students to develop English Language Proficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Based on student achievement data and the adopted curriculum, plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate differentiated and active student learning for EL students.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and of student groups.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction.
- Evaluate individual and classroom student performance.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing age appropriate rules and procedures.
- Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians concerning student achievement and needs.
- Participate in professional develop activities in subject area, instructional methods, and classroom environment to make relevant changes to meet changing needs of students.
- Complete other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.
