In order to apply for a paraprofessional position, you must have completed one of the following:
- 2 year college degree
- earned 100 quarter or 60 semester hours of college credit
- passed the Georgia Paraprofessional Assesment (this test is available at the Board of Education office - call 229-377-3701 for details)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold or qualify for a GA Paraprofessional Rank I or Rank II License
- Physical ability to assist in transferring physically disabled students
- Possess good verbal and communication skills
- Possess integrity and high standard of ethics and confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a diverse population
- Possess ability to assume responsibility for implementing teacher directed behavioral programs
- Model professionalism in temperament, attitude, appearance and ethics
Primary Duties:
- Support the teacher and instruction in a Special Education Classroom or Inclusive Regular Education Environment
- Support student learning through a variety of support activities
- Support student safety through a variety of support activities
- Assist students in bathroom skills to include changing diapers as needed
- Assist students with daily hygiene needs and feeding as needed
- Assist with physical assistance in behavior programs as needed
