In order to apply for a paraprofessional position, you must have completed one of the following:

  • 2 year college degree
  • earned 100 quarter or 60 semester hours of college credit
  • passed the Georgia Paraprofessional Assesment (this test is available at the Board of Education office - call 229-377-3701 for details)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold or qualify for a GA Paraprofessional Rank I or Rank II License
  • Physical ability to assist in transferring physically disabled students
  • Possess good verbal and communication skills
  • Possess integrity and high standard of ethics and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a diverse population
  • Possess ability to assume responsibility for implementing teacher directed behavioral programs
  • Model professionalism in temperament, attitude, appearance and ethics

Primary Duties:

 

  • Support the teacher and instruction in a Special Education Classroom or Inclusive Regular Education Environment
  • Support student learning through a variety of support activities
  • Support student safety through a variety of support activities
  • Assist students in bathroom skills to include changing diapers as needed
  • Assist students with daily hygiene needs and feeding as needed
  • Assist with physical assistance in behavior programs as needed
