Description

REQUIREMENTS:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Pass pre-employment criminal back-ground check.  Pass pre-employment drug test.  Hold a valid Georgia Driver license.  Some basic electrical, HVAC, and plumbing repair experience. Hold a current freon handling certificate or be able to obtain one in 3 months.

 

PREFERRED: Experience in basic HAVAC operation, maintenance, and preventative maintenance procedures.  Applicant should have basic electrical knowledge and understanding of common electrical systems.  Some experience in commercial plumbing systems. Experience in the operation of equipment to include but not limited to custodial cleaning equipment and grounds maintenance equipment          .

 

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:  This is a general listing of specific job duties and is not intended to be all inclusive list as all employees are expected to perform any duties necessary in the execution of the mission of the Grady County School System Maintenance Department.

 

Air Quality:  Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units to include but not limited to filter replacement and washing units on a regular basis.

 

Lighting Quality:   Must be able to identify and understand energy conservation material, equipment, and procedures.  He or she must be able to identify and replace correct ballast and bulb requirements for light fixtures.  Employee will work in a safe manner to prevent injury to self or others while working with electricity.

 

Plumbing Support:  The employee will learn and assist in commercial plumbing repairs to include, but is not limited to all water source delivery systems as well as waste water removal systems.

 

Cross Training:  As with all Maintenance Department employees, this employee will be expected to learn and assist in other job skills performed by all other employees of the department.

 

Other Duties:  Employee will be required to perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Manual Dexterity-The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Near Vision-The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Dependability-Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
